Overview

I, and a small handful of interns, was asked to partner with an AI team to come up with a solution that would show off the organizations innovation capabilities for customer demo's.

A broader research effort was taking place on the repair facility side, led by another individual. His team was able to capture key insights on the repair facility research, and in collaboration with our internal SME's, we were able to hypothesize a use case that could be in the foresight of a future state solution. My team consisted of 3 PhD students, 2 of which were interns, and 1 that is a full-time level II UX Researcher.

From the research I learned that insurance adjusters and shop estimators often have disputes. And the primary constraint is that they no longer work together in person to review repairs on a vehicle. What if we're able to capture the shop estimation and carrier estimation in a mixed reality environment with the use of digital twin technology in AR, and use VR to create the space for a shop environment?

The primary goal of this project was to entice interest and curiosity within the organization for an upcoming mid year spotlight event. We would showcase storyboards to show how mixed reality can bring together the shop and the carrier into a space where negotiations and conversation can take place in front of a digital twin version of the vehicle in the shop with the idea that this could be the future of work. It was never intended to be a fool proof solution, but rather, a way to show that CCC is futures thinking. The second phase would be developing a virtual user interface and have a functional prototype that can be used in the NXT Lab within a year.
